VAN GOOD DESIGN’s architectural design for La Zagaleta Private Villa brings together a total villa area of 2,600 m² across three levels. The design task is to connect a large private residence with a sloping site while opening the living spaces towards the golf valley. Arrival, internal circulation, garden levels and terraces are considered together. The project visualisations show how the house steps into its landscape, with a distinct approach to the entrance and outdoor living spaces arranged along the view-facing side.
CONCEPT
The central design challenge is the relationship between openness, shade and privacy. Large glazed openings connect rooms to the landscape, while deep overhangs and recessed terraces create sheltered places at the edge of the house. Garden walls and layered planting shape the arrival sequence and help screen more private spaces. Horizontal volumes follow the level changes, with softened roof edges reducing the visual weight of the composition. Travertine, bronze and glass carry the same material language from the entrance to the terraces.
DETAILS
Form and materials: Travertine surfaces, bronze accents and large glazed openings define the exterior. Curved roof edges soften the horizontal composition, while deep overhangs add shade and depth.
Arrival and landscape: A private approach, garden walls and layered Mediterranean planting establish a gradual arrival sequence. Terraces and level changes connect the villa to the natural slope.
Views and privacy: Living spaces and outdoor lounges face the golf valley. Landscape buffers, controlled sightlines and recessed spaces balance panoramic views with privacy.
Inside and outside: Terraces, gardens and poolside areas extend the living spaces outdoors. A consistent palette of stone, bronze and natural textures ties these spaces together.
