VAN GOOD DESIGN’s architectural design for AQQUAABA Resort & Hotel brings together 50 rooms, including penthouses, with dining, leisure, wellness and business facilities. The design task is to organise these different activities around a clear guest experience, connecting arrival and shared spaces with the tropical landscape and central pool. A private yacht marina forms part of the project brief. The visualisations present the architectural proposal, including curved façades, planted terraces and outdoor areas for both social activity and quieter retreat.
CONCEPT
A resort with restaurants, family spaces and conference facilities needs a range of settings rather than one continuous social space. The proposal places hospitality and meeting functions at ground level and brings together the gym, yoga zone, juice bar and spa on the rooftop. Around the pool, lounge areas and planted edges offer different ways to gather or relax. Rounded balconies, deep overhangs and vegetation extending onto upper terraces connect the guest accommodation with this outdoor landscape. These architectural decisions organise the programme while giving the building a consistent horizontal profile.
DETAILS
Architecture: Curved façades and shaded balconies open towards the landscape. Vertical façade elements add rhythm, while large glazed openings connect interior spaces with greenery and water.
Landscape: Palm trees, planted terraces and layered vegetation frame views, create shaded places and help separate private guest areas from shared spaces.
Pool and outdoor living: The central pool brings together swimming, sunbathing and social spaces. Lounge areas, umbrellas and planted edges offer a choice between quiet relaxation and time with family or other guests.
Hospitality and wellness: The ground-floor programme includes a lobby, restaurant, bars, wine rooms, conference facilities and children's areas. Rooftop spaces bring together a gym, yoga zone, juice bar and spa.
